With a donation from the Oklahoma State Department of Health, we currently have plenty of the flu vaccine for the community event. This comes after confirmation of three additional influenza-associated deaths. Two in the 18-49 age group and one in the 50-64 group in Oklahoma County for the 2017-2018 flu season. Flu has now claimed a total of eight Oklahoma County residents and hospitalizations for the season now stand at 456 compared to 380 a week ago. Statewide, more than 2500 people have been hospitalized due to flu complications.
Flu Prevention Tips:
OCCHD reminds the public that it takes about two weeks to be fully protected from the vaccine.
