Sexual health is a state of physical, emotional, mental and social well-being in relation to sexuality; it is not merely the absence of disease, dysfunction or infirmity. Sexual health requires a positive and respectful approach to sexuality and sexual relationships, as well as the possibility of having pleasurable and safe sexual experiences.

WHAT SERVICES ARE AVAILABLE?


Birth Control | Includes education and information regarding sexual health and pregnancy prevention options. A full range of contraceptives are available. Many options are available same day and without an exam.

Condoms | Available for free and without seeing a provider.

STI & HIV Testing | Screening for sexually transmitted infections including HIV, syphilis, chlamydia and gonorrhea.
Emergency Contraception | Sometimes called the “morning after pill,” available within three days (or 72 hours) after unprotected intercourse and can greatly reduce the chance of pregnancy.

STI Clinic Services

The control and prevention of communicable diseases, including Sexually Transmitted Infections (STIs), is one of the most important functions of Public Health. Treatment has been available for syphilis and gonorrhea since the 1940s, yet these STIs and others are still major problems for sexually active persons today. We want to help you learn the symptoms of common STIs, what to do if you suspect that you or your partner may be infected with STIs, and learn how to protect yourself from future infections. Our STI clinics provide low-cost screening of sexually transmitted infections. The examination is done in private. No other persons may be present – this includes parents. However, a female employee/witness will be present when a male public health nurse examines a female client.  We do not and cannot acknowledge a client’s presence in our clinic. Results can only be presented to the client. The clinic will provide translation services when needed.

We test for the following STIs:

  • CHLAMYDIA
  • GONORRHEA
  • HIV*
  • SYPHILIS
  • TRICHOMONIASIS
Any sexually-active person twelve years of age or older may be seen in our clinic. If you are sexually active and would like to be screened, we welcome you to visit our STI clinic. We have an experienced group of RN Clinicians working under CDC guidelines and OU Infectious Disease Physicians providing excellent care in the evaluation and treatment of some STIs.

*Please note that while we do test for HIV, we refer the treatment of these infections to other medical clinics.

How Much Does an Exam Cost?
The normal fee for services is $20.00 but at this time exams are free!
Test Results
Some results may not be available at the time of the clinic visit. Clients will receive information on how to receive results and when those results will be available. Clients should ensure this follow-up for their own information and in case it is necessary to return to the clinic.

How to get Prep Oklahoma City County Health Department

WHAT IS PrEP?

Pre-Exposure Prophylaxis (PrEP) when taken daily, by people who are HIV negative, can reduce the risk of getting HIV from sex by over 90%, and reduces the risk by more than 70%, among people who inject drugs.

PrEP works by preventing HIV from entering and using the immune system to spread throughout your body.

The risk of getting HIV can be lowered even further by taking PrEP and using condoms.

  • Studies have shown that PrEP medications reduce the risk of acquiring HIV from sex by about 99% when taken consistently.

WHY IS PrEP IMPORTANT?

PrEP medications are safe and effective and can help prevent you from getting infected with HIV. When someone is exposed to HIV, PrEP medications can work to keep the virus from causing infection. Taking PrEP medication can stop new HIV infections, and help end the HIV epidemic.

More than one million people in the U.S. could benefit from taking PrEP medication, but only a small fraction of those actually get a prescription for the medication. Many people do not know about PrEP medication and how it can help them, and many can’t afford to pay for the medicine.
