The Diabetes Prevention and Outreach (DPOP) program provides diabetes prevention education for Oklahoma County residents at risk of developing diabetes. The program provides free diabetes screening for adults 18 years and older.
Screenings include:
- Blood pressure check
- Height
- Weight
- Blood glucose
- Cholesterol
- Consultation with a dietitian
Free Healthy Weight Loss and Disease Prevention Classes – August and September, 2010
Knowledgeable staff are available to review screening results with participants. Referrals are then made to diabetes prevention classes as well as community resources and physicians if needed.
Lifestyle balance classes are offered at no charge to Oklahoma County residents. Classes provide information and tools to help participants learn how to prevent or delay the onset of diabetes.
The classes focus on:
- Dietary changes and making healthier choices
- Increasing physical activity
- Reducing body weight
- Creating a balance between diet and physical activity
- Developing new healthy lifestyle habits

- August 5, 12, 19, and 26 at North East Community Center 1220 NE 33rd St. OKC. OK. 73111, 7 AM to 11:30 AM.
- August 6, 13, 20, and 27 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church 2607 S. Shartel OKC. OK. 73107, 7 AM to 11:30 AM
