The Summer Lunch Program consists of free breakfast and lunch that is served at schools, community centers, apartments, and churches. These meals are served free to children ranging from ages 1 to 18.
When school ends, so do meals for some children. The summer lunch program provides nutritious food to children at selected sites throughout Oklahoma City and surrounding areas beginning in early June. Each inspector is assigned to these selected areas and they inspect the food and the facility to make sure all guidelines and regulations are followed. The majority of the food is provided by the Regional Food Bank of Oklahoma, and some schools serve from their own kitchen. OCCHD is given a list where these selected facilities will be, and we inspect each one.
