The inspectors at the Oklahoma City County Health Department offer various types of classes and training to our licensed establishments. Training is offered free of charge and attempts are made to conduct the training at the convenience of the facility. Training can be offered on-site at the requesting establishment or at a location determined by the parties involved. Some examples of training offered are:
- Food Safety and Sanitation (30 minutes up to a half day)
- Bed Bugs
- Swimming Pool safety
- Good Hygiene
- Childcare Food Safety

- Special Events
Training is catered to meet the needs of your establishment and your employees. Training can be conducted as a classroom style training with handouts, PowerPoint presentation, etc., or can be presented as a hands-on training in the facility. Food Manager Certification
Food Service Operator Certification is required in the municipalities of Oklahoma City, Edmond, Midwest City, Warr Acres, Spencer, The Village, Nichols Hills, Harrah and Del City. This Certification is a manager’s level certification. Each food service establishment is required to have at least one certified Food Service Operator. This certification involves 14 hours of class work and successfully passing an examination. The person obtaining this certification must be employed at the establishment and be in a position to supervise and train employees. Food Handler Training
Food Handler Training of all employees is not required in Oklahoma County or the municipalities contained within Oklahoma County. Currently only Food Manager Training is required. If you facility or organization is interested in basic Food Handler Training, we can conduct a basic training for your group. We do not issue food handler cards, but can issue a certificate of attendance if it is needed to document training for your organization.

A: Yes, training can be done in the evenings and on weekends if the inspector is available.
